Watch this short piece, in which a Fox News Baghdad correspondent talks positively about walking in a market for the first time. However, she’s forced to mention that her visit included MORE US troops than Sen. McCain’s, and all of the people she interviews tell her that the situation there is terrible.
Cheney Predicted Iraq "Quagmire" In '94
A video has surfaced showing Dick Cheney predicting a “quagmire” in Iraq if US forces were to invade, a video recorded on April 15, 1994. In the interview with the American Enterprise Institute, Cheney defends President George H. W. Bush’s decision not to overthrow Saddam Hussein in the first Gulf War.
Amazingly, the younger Cheney predicts several specifics that we’ve seen playing out recently in Iraq, like the involvement of Syria and Iran and the threatening presence of Turkey which worries about a breakaway Kurdish state. Even more amazingly, Cheney speaks about the high cost of American lives an invasion would bring.
What a difference a few years can make.
